OEKO-TEX® STeP stands for Sustainable Textile & Leather Production is a modular certification system for production facilities in the textile and leather industry. STeP aims to permanently implement environmentally friendly production processes, improve occupational safety and promote socially acceptable working conditions in production companies. The target group of the STeP certification are textile and leather manufacturers as well as brands and trading companies.
What does the certification say?
STeP stands out from other certification systems in that it not only takes individual sustainability aspects into account, but also carries out a holistic analysis and evaluation of the production conditions. STeP analyzes all important company areas within the framework of 6 modules:
- Chemical management
- Environmental performance
- Environmental management
- Social responsibility
- Quality management
- Health protection and occupational safety
The aim of the STeP certification is the long-term implementation of environmentally friendly production processes, social working conditions and optimal occupational safety.
